Summer Programmes (Juniors, 13 – 18 years)

Commencing:
27th. June, 2005 (two, three or four weeks programmes)
3rd. August, 2005 (two or three week programmes)

Students are placed with host families convenient to the centre, attend 15 hours of English classes and take part in sporting and leisure activities in the afternoons. They are tested on arrival and graded into group classes according to their level. Classes are specially organised to interest young people, and all aspects of language skill are covered in the courses. Maximum class size is 14 students.

The afternoon activities vary from day to day, but typically include:

• Sports – tennis, bowling , football
• Cultural visits
• Treasure hunts
• Table quizzes
• Irish music and dancing
• Swimming
• Mini-golf
• Archery

On Friday evenings students attend a supervised disco or karaoke and on Saturdays enjoy a full-day excursion to Kilkenny, Wicklow, The Boyne Valley or Athlone.

Junior students are carefully supervised during all organised activities. . They are accommodated in and around Lucan away from the busy city centre, and Active English insists that guidelines issued to both students and host families are strictly met, to ensure the safety and well-being of our younger students.

Summer Programmes (Adults)

In July and August Active English offers two, three and four week programmes which combine leisure activities with English classes.

Adults can combine their English studies with one or several cultural activities, including:-

• Irish traditional music appreciation, musical events and festivals
• Irish Literature courses
• Art Courses
• Historical tours
• Theatre outings
• Day and weekend excursions to destinations of scenic
  and cultural interest.

Sporting activities can also be arranged, including:

• Golf, in a choice of the area’s many fine golf clubs
• Horseriding in nearby Kildare, Ireland’s foremost equestrian centre
• Tennis
• Archery
• Swimming and other watersports
• Scenic walking tours
